Full Moon Bajo / Yoni-Pelvic Steam Blend
Bajos, Yoni Steaming & Pelvic Steaming have a long deep history across the globe as a practive for pelvic & womb toning, cleansing, increasing circulation & rejuvenation. For more on the benefits see this page here.
There are 3 blends you can choose from depending on the length of your cycle:
- Full Moon Bajo Blend designed for folks with cycles 28 days or longer and those who are postpartum. Cleanses the uterus and & blood circulation to the womb center. Balances the vaginal flora & scent, tones & nourishes the inner tissues.
- New Moon Bajo Blend designed for folks with shorter menstrual cycles of 27 days or less or for those who experience spontaneous bleeding in between periods. Anti-inflammatory and filled with antioxidants to nourish the womb back to balance and address inconsistent bleeding.
- Moon Goddess Bajo Blend is designed for all types including normal, active menstrual cycles and those in menopause & perimenopause. Anti inflammatory, nourishing & hydrating
How To Steam At Home
You will need the following items to perform a bajo at home:
- 1 cup of Herbs
- Large boiling pot
- A clay or ceramic bowl small enough to place between your legs under your pelvic bowl while squatting in a Tlaltekuhtli / child pose
- A blanket or yoga mat to lay on
- A towel
- A blanket
- Socks
How to start this practice:
- Place the dried herbs into boiling water at a 1tablespoon to 1 cup ratio
- Cover the pot and reduce the heat until it’s simmering gently. 10 minutes later, remove from the heat and let them steep – covered – for 10 minutes more.
- Pour the water from the pot into a clay or ceramic bowl
- To protect your skin and the blanket or mat underneath you, place a folded towel around the bottom and sides of the bowl
- Remove your lower clothing and keep your socks on to retain the heat in.
- Wrap yourself in a blanket
- Squat in Tlaltekuhtli/ Child Pose with the bowl between your legs under your pelvic region so that you and the bowl are completely wrapped by the blanket
- Knees spread apart. Yoni or pelvic region should be open and accessible to the steam.
- Relax, meditate, breathe, release
- You’re done when you feel done and/or the heat is fading. Usually about 15-20 minutes. Stay wrapped up in the blanket for a while after, and try to stay warm. You can take a warm bath or shower afterwards as well
- You can offer the water & herbs to the Earth in gratitude
- Adjust positions, time, and details to your desires as you deepen & build a relationship with this practice
Recommended Use:
Its recommended to check in with your body and see how often you need it. In general, during the 1 to 3 days before your period and/or the 1 to 3 days after your period is over. Full Moon Bajo Ingredients:
Artemisia vulgaris (Mugwort), Leonurus cardiaca (Motherwort), Rosa rubiginosa (Red Rose), Lavandula (Lavender), Urtica dioica (Nettle Leaf), Hamamelis (Witch Hazel), Achillea millefolium (Yarrow), and Taraxacum (Dandelion Leaf)
Precautions:
*Yoni steams are not recommended during pregnancy because the steam can cause contractions in the uterus, which could help induce labor. Do not use if you have had your "tubes tied" or use a patch birth control as it can disrupt its efficacy. Do not steam while you are bleeding or spotting.
Check with a trained steam practioner, a midwife or your doctor before using yoni steams if you have an IUD (intrauterine device), experience abnormal discharge or pain, heavy periods, endometriosis, ovarian cysts, or other serious gynecological conditions.
